Every year, millions of girls are subjected to practices that harm them physically and emotionally, with the full knowledge and consent of their families, friends and communities.
UNFPA The Gambia 2019 Annual Report
2019 was the year of strengthened partnerships and renewed commitments for the empowerment of women, adolescents and young people, as it marked the 25th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development and 50 years of UNFPA's existence. This report highlights UNFPA’s life-saving work in The Gambia in the course of the year to end preventable maternal death, end unmet need for family planning and end Gender-Based Violence and harmful practices and also shows the Country Office's UNFPA@50 and ICPD25 efforts to accelerate the realisation of the ICPD Programme of Action and ensure rights and choices for all in The Gambia.
The report also documents human interest stories showing the impact of our investments in realising each of the 3 transformative results and highlights the work we did through the support of the Secretary General’s Peacebuilding Fund.

Accelerating the Promise: The Report on the Nairobi Summit on ICPD25
The report captures the unique essence and substance of the Nairobi Summit on ICPD25 held in November 2019, which brought together over 8000 delegates from accross the world, to renew their commitments to finish the unfnished business of ensuring righst and choices for all and realise the ideals of the ICPD Programme of Action.

UNFPA The Gambia COVID-19 Situation Report No.1
As of 31 May 2020, The Gambia recorded 25 confimed COVID-19 cases, out of which there were 19 recoveries and 1 fatality.
This situation report provides an overview of the current situation in the country and UNFPA's efforts to support the National Response during the period March to May 2020.
UNFPA's support to the National COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan
UNFPA The Gambia supports the government of The Gambia's National COVID-19 Response Plan, on three strategic intervention areas:
- Ensure continuity of sexual and reproductive health services
- Addressing Gender Based Violence and providing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support
- Support women and young people live dignified lives
These interventions are hinged on the UNFPA Global COVID-19 Response Plan.
UNFPA The Gambia COVID-19 Response Plan
As a strong partner to the Government of The Gambia, UNFPA’s support to the National COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan is guided by the WHO COVID-19 Strategic Action Plan and is anchored on the UNFPA Global Response Plan which seeks to focus strategic investments in limiting human-to-human transmission, mitigating the impact of the pandemic on the healthcare system by focusing on sexual and reproductive health at the level of affected communities, and ensuring the prevention of gender based violence.
The Parallel Pandemic: Domestic and Gender Based Violence during COVID-19 in The Gambia
This Policy Brief focuses on how women and girls in The Gambia can be impacted by domestic and gender based violence during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as recommendations to address this.
Costing the Three Transformative Results
Costing the Three Transformative Results focuses on new research to estimate the costs associated the global effort led by UNFPA to: (a) end preventable maternal deaths, (b) end the unmet need for family planning, and (c) end gender-based violence and all harmful practices, including child marriage and female genital mutilation.
This new analysis goes beyond calculating costs; it also identifies the specific interventions needed to achieve these three transformative results by 2030 – the deadline for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals – including developing country investment cases and costing of the work of UNFPA country programmes. This publication contains the methodologies and resulting cost estimates towards the achievement of each result.

We give you final edition of our quarterly newsletter in 2019 covering the period between October and December 2019. This was a very interesting period for the CO, especially with progress on our peacebuilding projects implemented by our partners in The Gambia. We engaged in a series of youth driven activities geared towards promoting our work and supporting young people reach their fullest potentials.
In #DeliveringForTheGambia we acknowledge the importance and importance of partnerships and strategic programming set to target key population groups to ensure we achieve the results for and with The Gambia.

Welcome to another edition of our quarterly newsletter, covering the period between July and September 2019. During this period, we engaged in series of activities geared towards promoting our work, and also supported various initiatives led by our partners in The Gambia. We recognise that our #DeliveringForTheGambia agenda cannot be realised, without strategic partnerships. Thus, in this issue, a highlight of our engagements is a celebration of the partnerships we have built and nurtured in the country, as we commemorate fifty (50) years of our existence as an agency this year.
