UNFPA The Gambia releases its music compilation album - Worlds Apart - to wrap up 16 Days of Activism against GBV 2018
On International Human Rights Days and the last day of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, UNFPA The Gambia is pleased to officially release its very own music compilation album, dubbed "Worlds Apart". Named after UNFPA's 2017 State of World Population Report, the Worlds Apart album is a compilation of the melodious voices of eight of The Gambia's finest artists and seeks to highlight the various sexual and reproductive health challenges affecting women, youth and adolescents in The Gambia, while calling for the eradication of all forms of Gender-Based Violence, through beautifully put together music.
It is our belief that, through the use of music in particular and art in general, we can be sure of achieving UNFPA's three ambitious transformative goals:
- Ending unmet need for Family Planning;
- Ending preventable maternal deaths;
- Ending Gender-Based Violence and Harmful Practices.
This music project which began in late 2017, is a UNFPA The Gambia production in collaboration with Brandplus and we are especially grateful to all the artists - Alieu Badara, T Smallz, Kerr Gi Family, Cess Ngom, Bobo Diimoo, and ENC - for agreeing to work with us on this project and for using their voices to inspire social change.
We hope you enjoy listening to each song on the six-track album: https://bit.ly/2UtKJcd
